17 Months OId

My little tinks is 17 months old today! She amazes me every single day. I love seeing her personality and attitude come out more and more everyday.

What is Alex up to?

She loves playing with bowls and lids and will now go through them to find the lids that fit the correct bowls and carry them around.

She loves her Little People blocks. She will stack them, unstack them, re stack them and so on for 15 minutes or so.

She will grab your finger and lead you to different places in the house depending on what she wants. Her closet to either look at books or get shoes, the front door when she wants to go outside, the pantry door if she wants goldfish, her cabinet in the kitchen if she wants puffs, the fridge if she wants milk. Her new one is taking Josh to the office and pointing to the record player (yes, we have a record player!) so he will turn music on for her. We spent an hour in the office Friday night listening to record and dancing around. Alex had a blast!

She is starting to throw tantrums. It is usually when she is tired. She gets frustrated with toys and screams, she gets frustrated with Cooper and screams/cries and pushes him away. If she wants to lead you somewhere and you don't stop what you are doing to go, she throws a little fit. When she is hungry she gets pushy and cranky. She will scream and cry at me while I am making her dinner and continue to cry until she gets her first bite of food.

She continues to be a picky eater. One day she will eat peaches (or any food) and the next day she won't. I've learned she eats better if I feed her from a regular spoon or fork instead of the plastic kid ones. She is getting VERY bad about begging. If she eats before us, she will beg for food while we are eating. I really think she learned it from Cooper. I want her to know once she is done, she can't snack and graze the rest of the day or night.

She understands pretty much everything we tell her, but she is still speaking very little. Her favorite thing to tell me is "all done." When I'm feeding her I always tell her last bite and all done. She now tells me all done when she is done eating. Sometimes it's after 2 bites and she will pretty much refuse to eat anymore.

She loves tickling herself and other people and will say "tickle tickle tickle" while she is doing it.

Other than that, she says random words here and there, but once she says it, it's days before she will say it again.

She is in constant motion. She walks, runs, spins circles and tries to climb on top of all her toys.

She will point to her nose, tummy, head and ears when you ask her to. She usually points to her nose when you ask where her toes are!

She is very helpful. She brushes her hair, tries to clip her nails or our nails, lint rolls Josh in the morning, then tries to lint roll Cooper, tries to put her bows in her hair, brushes her teeth (supervised!) and help pick up her toys.

Alex has been sick the last couple of days. It started Saturday with a super snotty nose. She was just having an off day, but it didn't help that we were in Austin shopping so she didn't get her afternoon nap and we were on the go all day. Her nose is clearing up but still not completely better. I am constantly trying to wipe her nose and kept it clear while she is constantly fighting to keep me away from her nose.

Awww! She did much better with Santa than Syvie. I swear I think Syvie gets ideas from Maddie also. She is just a cutie! I hope she is feeling better now.
